Large Antique Wooden Temple Figure – THAILAND – 18th/19th Century
Old and antique wooden temple figure from Thailand.  At least 150 years old, possibly much older.  Beautifully carved and well-proportioned, with a serene face.  Figure sits atop an integral base.  Surface is gilded over a layer of gesso, with much original gilt remaining.  Small remnants of red and blue paint also visible on the base. Carved from single piece of a heavy, dense wood.   One small age crack in lower front of figure, otherwise intact

.  Small lead antique export seal still hangs from the wrist.
Please examine photos carefully for condition.
Purchased years ago at auction, this is part of my personal collection that I am selling to downsize. Beautiful and commanding presence!
